Known officially as the 2024 Copa America, the four-yearly international men’s football championship is organized by CONMEBOL and will be held in the US from 14 June to 14 July. It will be the second time the US has hosted the tournament after 2016.

Ecuador was expected to be host the Copa America in 2024 due to the rotational order organized by the CONMEBOL. Ecuador announced it was declining to host the championship. US and Peru expressed their interest in staging the event. With the US being designated as the host for the event.

The event consists of 16 competing teams, 6 from the CONCACAF and 10 from the CONMEBOL. All 10 national teams in the CONMEBOL can enter, while the 6 CONCACAF teams qualify through the CONCACAF Nations League for the season 2023-24. Those teams will comprise of 4 League A quarter-final winners and 2 play-in round winners between the four quarter-final losing teams. Although the host, the US does not qualify automatically for Copa America.

The 10 teams from the CONMEBOL that are automatically eligible to compete are Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela.

The favourites for the Copa America are Brazil and Argentina (the reigning champions from 2021), as two of the best teams in the world. Uruguay should not be dismissed as they hold the most Copa America titles with Argentina, at 15 each.
