Euro 2024 is the 17th edition of the UEFA-organised, quadrennial international men’s European championship. Germany will play host to the tournament that is scheduled to take place starting with its opening ceremony and opening game on June 14th accumulating at Allianz Arena Munich with the final at Olympiastadion in Berlin on July 14th. It marks the 3rd time that matches will be played on German soil and 2nd in reunified Germany, as West Germany hosted the championship in 1988. It will also mark the first time that the event has taken place in former East German territory as Leipzig is the host city.
Germany and Turkey both put forward bids to host the event, with Turkey only securing 4 votes to the 12 that Germany received.
Matches will be hosted in 10 cities, Berlin, Munich, Dortmund, Gelsenkirchen, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Hamburg, Dusseldorf, Cologne and Leipzig. 24 teams will play in the group stage of the event.
