Udinese Calcio are based in Udine, Friuli-Venezia Giulia and were founded in 1896 as a sport club and later established their football section in 1911. Udinese hold their home games at the Stadio Friuli, which was built in 1976. It has a capacity of around 25,144 and is currently known as the Bluenergy Stadium for sponsorship reasons. Furthermore, it is seen as a fairly modern venue, being given a strong rating of category 4.
